Support for Childcare

The Aim of this programme is;

To subsidise childcare costs for those wishing to access treatment, rehabilitation or aftercare programmes. And also to provide easy access to childcare for individuals who have been involved in drug use.

This is done by providing financial supports to individuals affected by drug misuse.

The Community Development Worker promotes this programme and informs relevant services throughout Ballyfermot of the availability of fund.

The Development worker also works very closely with child care providers to alleviate fears and prejudices in relation to the children in question. She also will negotiate spaces in facilities for the children.

Once suitable child care providers are identified the Community Development Worker sets up a service agreement with the child care providers.

The childcare providers are also assisted in developing skills to deal with issues around drugs and drug use. Training is also provided for the staff of the relevant childcare providers.
The Community Development Worker maintains contact on a regular basis with child care providers to address any issues or concerns that may arise. Also through research, identify training needs of childcare providers in relation to the specific needs of children in question.
